Engagements

Run a penetration test as an engagement: set its scope, attach findings, then generate a client-ready report.

Start an engagement and define its scope

  1. Open Engagements › All engagements and select New engagement.
  2. Enter a Name, pick a Type and an Approach, then select Create.
  3. On Details, set Testing from, Testing to, Client reference and Summary.
  4. On Scope, select Add target. Choose a Linked asset (optional) from your assets, or clear In scope to list a target as excluded.
  5. Select Save.

Use the buttons at the top (Start testing, Move to reporting, Mark delivered, Close) to move the engagement through its stages.

Attach findings and set their order

The report covers the findings you attach. Findings stay in Exposure, where remediation is tracked.

  1. Create findings with Add or import findings, or open Engagements › Vulnerability library, choose a write-up and select Report on an asset.
  2. On the engagement's Findings tab, choose Add findings. Each attached finding gets a reference that the report uses throughout.
  3. Reorder with the up and down arrows, or sort on a column and choose Renumber to match this order. Renumber before you generate the report, so its references match the order you see.

Generate the report

Select Save, then Generate report. Paid plans include report generation; see pricing. The report opens in the report centre, where Reports covers review, approval and export.

To delete an engagement, open it, select the bin icon beside Save, then Delete.

To give a client access to the project, see users and access.
